I am based in Noordhoek, Cape Town, where I live with my wife and two children. I grew up in Canada and earned my psychology degree from the University of Guelph in Ontario before moving to South Africa in 1992 in my early twenties.
In 2013, we faced the sudden and unimaginable loss of our firstborn son, Simon. The sadness and grief were profound and enduring – it was every parent’s nightmare. Yet, amid the pain, there were also many beautiful gifts. I am deeply grateful for the years of personal work I had done before my son’s death, guided by amazing people who helped me explore my inner self, release the conditioning of my past, and become a more balanced and present person.
I believe this foundation of self-discovery and awareness helped me survive the difficult, humbling moments that followed. It felt as though I had been prepared for what was to come, enabling me to continue being there for my wife and kids, to get up every day and see the beauty in life, to treasure my friendships, and to trust in life.
In a time of uncertainty and imbalance, there is a growing need for awareness and healing on an individual level and, as conventional ideas of masculinity continue to evolve, men need to redefine themselves in order to thrive.
The BetterMAN course is designed to take men through a structured path that allows them to safely explore their emotions and release past conditioning, build greater self-awareness, consciousness, and connection.
I am inspired by helping men find the wisdom, grace, and balanced power within themselves to be more resilient and better husbands, sons, friends, and leaders.
These are the building blocks of a better world. Let’s build it together.
